Inside Tomo

Tomo Japanese Restaurant · Buckhead, Atlanta

MICHELIN Guide
Recommended
American South · October 2025

The food was never the problem

The MICHELIN Guide recommends it. DiningOut lists it first among the best sushi in Atlanta, and Atlanta Eats calls it one of its favorites.

The challenge

One of Atlanta's best Japanese restaurants, and almost nobody knew. In January 2023 Tomo had a thousand Instagram followers, a brand that looked like three different restaurants, and no way to be found or booked online. The food was exceptional. Everything around it was not.

What we did

One restaurant.The whole stack.

One location has to win its market every single night. So we build the whole stack in-house, as a full-service restaurant marketing program, so nothing gets lost between vendors.

  • Brand Strategy & Brand BookPalette, typography and photography direction, defined before a single post went out.
  • Website Design & DevelopmentA site where every experience the restaurant sells has its own page and its own booking path.
  • Social Media ManagementInstagram from day one, on a content calendar built around the room, the craft and the weekly events.
  • Content Creation & PhotographyFood and atmosphere, shot in-house every week to one creative standard.
  • SEO & Content MarketingPeople searching for Japanese food in Buckhead find Tomo before they find a list.
  • Google Business OptimizationCategories, photos, hours and posts tuned for local search and the map pack.
  • Online Reputation ManagementEvery review answered, on every platform, in the restaurant's own voice.
  • Paid AdvertisingMeta and Google campaigns built around reservations, not impressions.
  • Email & SMS MarketingCampaigns that bring regulars back for the events that run every week.
Tomo Japanese Restaurant

Every restaurant has something it already does well that nobody outside knows about. Finding it and building the machine around it is most of the job.

Brand Foundation

One identity, used every single day

Those numbers are the output; this is the machine that produces them. First we defined what Tomo looked like, then we applied it without exception. A brand book that stays in a folder is worth nothing.

01Visual identity

Three typefaces, one job each

Color drawn from the warmth of the room, type that works on a menu and on a phone, and rules for how the logo behaves everywhere. It came out of the same restaurant branding process we run before a single post goes out.

Every Flyer, Every Screen

Tuna Tuesday, Wine Down Wednesday, happy hour, omakase, seasonal menus. Every recurring event comes out of the same system, which is why a year of content looks like one restaurant and not twelve.
Mick Jagger at Tomo Japanese in July 2026, the restaurant wordmark on the wall behind him

July 2026

When Mick Jagger had dinner at Tomo in July 2026, the post went up the same day.

It became the best-performing photo in the account's history. You can't build a content system in the four hours a moment like that gives you. You either already have one or you don't.

Content Creation

Shot in-house. Posted every week.

A brand book is only worth what comes out of it. The photography is ours, shot in the restaurant.

01Photography

A Japanese restaurant sells craft

And craft only reads on camera if someone knows how to shoot it. So there is a brief: angles, lighting, hero dishes, room framing. Every shot on this page came out of our restaurant content creation team, in-house, week after week.

Website & Digital Experience

Booked in one tap.

Our restaurant website design gave every experience its own page and its own booking path: dinner, omakase, Tuna Tuesday, happy hour, gift cards, online ordering.

01Web Design & Development

We turned a Tuesday into the hardest reservation in Buckhead

Tomo was already carving a whole bluefin in the dining room. Our restaurant social media management gave it a name, a page to book on and a crowd.
